The Future
D.E.A.F. is entering a phase of significant planned growth which will evolve 3 phases as part of our business planning development:
First Phase
D.E.A.F is seeking immediate core funding to recruit an experienced and proactive development and funding coordinator, an admin worker and an office building for autumn 2007 available for 12 months.
Second Phase
The new development team, with support from the D.E.A.F. Executive Committee, local businesses and partners will focus on creating long term business planning and will aim to obtain long term and sustainable funding. We will endeavour to raise the D.E.A.F. profile amongst stakeholders with a potential to provide services to Swindon Deaf people. D.E.A.F. also aims to obtain charitable status. To enable the third phase to come into effect, the team, along with the Executive Committee, local businesses and partners will see the launch of Swindon Deaf Essential Access Forum’s new image and working practices to deliver its objectives, vision and mission statements.
Third Phase
includes Recruitment and developing a Management and Outreach team that is competent, motivated and proactive in achieving Deaf Essential Access Forum’s aims and standards for Quality of Life programmes (social, health well-being and education and employment as well as training) responsive to Deaf people’s needs in Swindon borough. The taskforce developed will focus on continual fund-raising; research to identify potential areas which benefit Deaf people; promoting the effective communication and also improving access to services. D.E.A.F will work with partners providing specialist support, learning and access to community services and to become a fully functional organisation in Swindon and Wiltshire.
The Plan
The first step towards achieving our ultimate goal is to recruit a Development and Funding Coordinator, to focus on 2nd Phase.
The immediacy of this need prompts us to approach local businesses with a request for funding of an overall total of a minimum of £43,000 to cover the costs of the recruitment process, initial salary and costs of employment and working budget.
Of course, we realise it would be unrealistic for us to ask one organisation to contribute such a sum, but we hope that a group of organisations could come together to enable us to realise this funding.
